ELK Stack

I have used the ELK stack in several occasions to support with monitoring and logging.

  • An internet exchange required monitoring and aggregation for all the logs they collect from several network devices and servers. An ELK stack was implemented to collect and store the logfiles. By displaying the Kibana dashboard on a screen it was easy to spot irregularities and act on this.
  • For an FttX network in Austria it was required to log and be able to show DHCP traffic passing the outbound switch. Using the ELK stack I was able to store these packets and visualise the type and origin of these packets. This information is useful for service providers and the network operators to check whether or not traffic from the end customer is correctly moved through the FttX network before being sent off to the respective service provider.
